Disgusted with Arthur

We brought Anna and Noelle home to visit for a few days. We have had fun with puzzles and playing house. Today, after their nap I had the TV on. We watched Clifford. Then Arthur came on. Now, not having preschoolers around all the time, I am not up on the acceptable and not acceptable programs. I thought Arthur was innocent enough, but my first impressions were that everything was too dark and depressing. Their house and school was painted in dark blues and greens. That wasn't much, being too picky, I thought. But, then I saw someone sitting at a small table with one of the characters sitting across from them . . . She was using a Ouigi board! I just shook my head. So much for educational television! It is disgusting!!!

Childhood Memory # 4

There was a boy my age (I think I was 5 or 6) who lived on my street who was always picking on my little brother. I kept telling him to leave my brother alone, (I was very protective) but he would just laugh and continue his torments. Sooooo I told him, “If you don’t stop picking on my brother I am going to ‘beat the tar’ out of you”. Coming home from school one day soon after, I saw him, again, poking my little brother with a stick. I just saw red! I started running toward him. I don’t think he realized what he was soon going to be facing. I ran up to him, grabbed the stick throwing it off to the side and just ‘lit’ into him. We had a ‘knock down, drag out’ fight with hair pulling and whatever it took. I did beat the ‘tar’ out of him, and he never even thought about hurting my little brother again. In fact, he was pretty humiliated to be beaten by a girl. I am told, he still remembers it. I don’t remember anything about him after that. I did what I had to do and that was that, I guess.
